how to extend range of wireless PC headset/mic with multiple access points
I previously posted this question on a different forum, without a conclusive solution. I would like to enable around 4 different warehouse employees to walk through a warehouse and use a 2.4ghz wireless headset/mic to communicate with their desktop PC's Microsoft Access form, using speech-recognition and text-to-speech integration, in order to input data into the MS Access form and use voice commands to run MS Access macros. Each desktop PC would be on the same LAN network. The warehouse has metal shelving and the user might be up to a few hundred feet away from his PC. Please advise me on the required hardware and procedure in order to accomplish my objective. I already contacted the wireless headset manufactures Logitech and Jabra and they do not carry a 2.4ghz headset that could connect to an Access point. I also checked google to no avail. Any insight would be much appreciated. Thank you very much in advance, Nathaniel
You don't need any specialized APs to be connectable. Several standard-conforming APs can be connected into an Extended Service Set (ESS). Devices connected to any of the APs in the ESS should be able to roam seamlessly from one AP to another.
Regarding specialized headset - I would suggest to use a standard cellphone instead. Instruct the workers to connect to your ESS and provide them with a standard wireless headset with connection to the phone (eg, BT headset).
