I'm having trouble getting the following setup to work:
I created a proxy PAC file (hosted on AWS S3) which is correct and working (verified using a plethora of other browsers) The proxy itself requires authentication in the form of username + password I set the URL to the PAC file in MacOS system settings, it's picked up correctly (again verified by other browsers) When trying to use Safari, I get asked for proxy authentication and enter the correct information (as confirmed by the entry made in keychain) Once entered, for some reason the system preferences application pops up. Nothing to do here, so I close it again. From now on requests simply hang. No more authentication challenges, but not a single request works in Safari. Other browsers are fine. Is this a bug in Safari? In MacOS Sierra? Or perhaps I am overlooking something?
